you not only can do strip quilts, you can cut squares, triagles and other shapes from those 2 1/2 inch stips. i love the repro fabrics from the 30's and bought a jelly roll of them. i made a really pretty quilt with a white background. i did buy some yardage for a border and binding. it's a favorite of mine.
