Default Need help making sea glass quilt

I have been searching for a tutorial to make a sea glass/pebble quilt to no avail. So, I am turning to this wealth of info to point me towards some info/techniques. I have saved several pictures from Pinterest, but no lessons so far. Maybe someone here has made one? Here are a few pics to show what I mean.

After asking Mr. Google, I found this free download. The directions seem quite straightforward. The sea glass is appliqued to strips of fabric and then the fabric is sewn together. I wonder if one could do needle turn applique (more of a hand project) and perhaps use a little extra batting under each piece, kind of like trapunto.

Allie at Exhausted Octopus has an online class in making a sea glass quilt: https://exhaustedoctopus.com

I haven’t taken the class, but I enjoyed the online presentation she did in 2021 as part of HollyAnne Knight’s BandCamp.

Both pictures look like simple applique on wholecloth to me.

I would select your favorite applique method and have at it! I hope you make this and look forward to seeing your finish!

Thanks. I did download the free pattern. But, the effect I'm looking for has the shapes nestling each other rather than blocks with an irregular shape on each one. I might have to design my own, but I'd like some input before I plan one.
The octopus site looked perfect, but pricey to me. It is billed as "for beginners", so maybe the extra sewing instructions?

Well I'm glad you posted this question. I went to the exhausted octopus website that suzslow found and saw a pattern/class that I liked and signed up for. I can see why you like the look of the sea glass designs that she has. Looks like you get quite a bit of information on the process there. If you can afford the price, I would go for it, if I were you.

    That's a beautiful quilt!

Looks like the technique is fused pebbles, then you free-motion quilt them into place. Not really appliqued. Looks like fun!

I'm thinking that I might have to make 4 sections like I did in DD's heart quilt.
