Default Need help with my quilt

Ok. I posted a picture of my curved log cabin quilt that I was making. I got it all sewn together and it doesn't fit the top of the bed. It hangs over the sides a bit, but it doesn't fill the top of the bed. Therefore, I added a border of about 11 inches to each side in a royal blue and at the top I have to add more than that to get it to fit, and the bottom too. It doesn't look right. All that solid blue on the sides. Anyone have any suggestions? I don't have any additional fabric that I used in the quilt to make a small border then the blue border. I hope this makes sense. It is already 100 blocks total without adding the borders. Any comments would be appreciated. Thank you. DebbieS

Could you appliqué something on the border to calm down the blue? Anything that matches the color.

Well, I don't know how to applique and I really want to have the quilt on my bed soon. Any other ideas? I have some two inch strips left over of the various colors, but I don't know what to do.

Instead of a solid blue, choose 3 shades of blue, and make three borders all around.

After looking at your quilt, I agree, 3 shades of blue would work

Would you use solid colors or prints? and the size of each border? Thanks for all ideas.

Do you have enough fabric to make two more rows of blocks? That would make it longer - you could make the borders uneven widths to make the sides wider and the ends skimpier.

I had to go back and look at your quilt to get my herrings. Gorgeous quilt. You did a wonderful job on the blocks. You want something to frame your blocks and stop the eyes. Put a 2" border of the white, followed by 4" of a light blue and finish with 6" of the royal blue. You will be happy with this.

A large border may be good spot to do a scalloped binding. The scallops would go nicely with the curves in the Log Cabin.

I like the scalloped edge idea. A small floral print in the same shades might look good, or how about a piano key border something like this.
