Default need help with tri rec ruler

errrrrrrrg I am trying to to use the tri rec rulers for my eye spy quilt. Everything I have looked at on the internet says how easy they are, but I simply can't get my 1/4 seam allowance at the point. What am I doing wrong. Hope the photos show,I am matching notch at bottom... I am so frustrated. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

it looks at though you are not moving the additions (gray fabric) up far enough on the triangle. Doing that would allow you more for the seam allowance. Maybe this graphic will help you picture it. Notice that the small red circle is 1/4" from the edge of the block segment.

You don't want it right at the edge do you??? Because when you sew the next strip or binding......whatever is next you will have a quarter inch seam and then the point will be right at that seam. I hope this make sense. I learned this while working on my lonestar.

She cuts a little corner off the side triangles to help line them up

If you have the newest Fons and Porter magazine there is an article with pictures on this ruler.

Part of your picture is blurry, but it looks like you are not taking a good 1/4 inch seam. Part of it looks too big. If the seam is too big, you will not have enough at the end for your 1/4 inch at the point.
