Default Need Ideas on Quilting - Safari Quilt

I made this free pattern with this awesome fabric - Caravan. I have no idea how to quilt it. Back will be all black so quilting will show. Any ideas are appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Linda

What a unique quilt. I'll be watching what the good quilters tell you to do. My first impression is to emphasize the circles, echo the applique animals and some curvy curliques in the long pieces. Maybe some cross-hatching in the smaller rectangles. Of course, if this were mine, I would probably have to do a panto on it, because my skill level is way below that level of FMQ. One day it will come.

i would do an all over design that is curved. that way, your great design will still prevail.

Cross hatching in the busy fabric pieced strips is a good idea as anything fancier is going to be a waste with the busy fabric. Outlining the medallions and elephants to emphasize them and within the medallions, a design that radiates from the centre that you could repeat in the one black corner you have in your outside border, like a starburst. Your sashing could be all one design or several, like curly cues or loops or back and forth or ribbon candy, a circle chain. it depends on your skill level and how densely you want it quilted. A paisley feather in the outside border would be a nice tie in to some of the fabric and theme.... Posta photo when you have it done. Beautiful quilt!
