Default Neither snow, nor rain, nor postal strike, will stop my quilt from getting through!

In September I finished a quilt for my wonderful 92 year old neighbour in the UK. The problem is, I now live in South Africa and had no way of getting her quilt to her. We are currently experiencing postal strikes, which means a huge backlog of a few months and even then, our postal system is so unreliable that her quilt would probably never make it to the UK in the first place. I tried the courier route but the costs were more than three times the value of the quilt and totally unaffordable!

In desperation I turned to Facebook . Through the help of some amazing friends, my neighbour's quilt will be picked up the first week in December in South Africa, packed in their luggage when they return to the UK on December 7th, collected by another friend on her motorbike, who will then deliver it in person to my neighbour's door. How awesome is that! My neighbour receives her special gift in time for Christmas and winter!

This quilt was made with love and appreciation for the friendship she showed us when we arrived in a foreign country. I will never forget her and now I'm so happy! Just wanted to share

That is wonderful! A quilt is such a special gift and I am delighted for you that it will find its new home with the help of new friends! All the best!

How very clever.....and so personal too. She will love the quilt and the story of its journey.

Probably wouldn't have helped with the postal strikes (and it is a wee bit away, lol) but DH works with a chap who lives in Cape Town who travels to the UK often.
