You are an angel to share this with the group. Ok, maybe other quilters get to know too but NEVER let those we give quilts to know there are such tricks. We want them to think we spent soooooooo much time making these almost (because only God is perfect) quilts for them.

Are you a retired teacher, by any chance? I'm married to one, and he comes up with the greatest ideas. Love this one!

Well, I've never seen nor read about this before, so thank you very, very much! I'm making the same quilt through McCalls, and you just saved me a bunch of time -- just on that quilt! Plus I'm sure I'll use it again and again in the future. I've read so many "How to Quilt" and "Tips for Quilter's" books, I wonder why I've never read about this? Anyway, you are just super to go to the trouble of taking and posting the pictures, and telling us what you are doing. This should end up as a tutorial so people like me, and I'm sure there are lots of us, can learn this technique!

    Happy Quilting! Thanks for Sharing!

For large HST blocks, I mark with a marker pen. for small ones, I eyeball it. There is a gadget for this to attach to one's machine. I bought it when the rest of my guild did and only used it twice. Sometimes, I press my lines in.

Default I learned the trick also and picture of my mystery quilt

Love your quilt. Here is a picture of mine. I had cut the squares 3-3/4 instead of 3-1/4 but didn't realize it until I made the snowballs. Too late to do over so my points on sides don't match but it looks ok.
