    Default Panel quilts

I wish we had a topic just for panel quilts.
It would be good for us to be able to see sets of panel quilts without having to go thru months of other photos. I just saw some new sets today, and wish i had others to compare them to.

There are some fantastic quilts using a panel in the Quilting Gallery, lots of great ideas for when I use a panel again, check them out.

OMG, I didn't realize the Quilting Gallery existed. And to think I thought I knew my way around this site...

Equilter.com is a great place for panel quilt ideas..look in their free pattern section...tons of quilt ideas, and I have often used a pattern with a different panel.

Panel quilts are tricky. At least to me they are. I will pick them up thinking it will be so easy then spend hours trying to figure out something to go with it. I head to pintrest for inspiration. Thanks for mentioning the Gallery. I have never thought of that. A panel quilt that I have been wanting to try was an idea that I read (probably here). You take 3 panels and cut up two to make other blocks. Guaranteed to work together.

our guild challenge this year is to use a complete panel in some way. I have my panel and want to do a Ricky Tims type Convergent quilt.

Made a chenille baby quilt once using 3 panels. Can't remember exactly how but I remember having to layer the panels matching exactly. Then quilted in straight lines and used a chenille tool to cut through all layers except the bottom one. I came out really cute. Now I wish I had written down the directions.

I agree with Toverly... but I have only done a few baby quilts with panels so now when I purchase a panel, I also look for corresponding fabric at the same time. Often, the manufacturer will have other fabrics in the collection which makes it easy to add borders and a corresponding backing.
