    Default Pattern

I am not a quitter but would like to try and make this tree skirt. Any idea what the pattern might be called so I can try to find a pattern to help me with making this.

Is this what you are looking for?

    https://obsessivequilter.weebly.com/...ree-skirt.html

Edit: If you want to attempt this, be sure to ask here about the easiest ways to make accurate half-square triangles. Quilting requires a degree of accuracy in cutting, sewing, and pressing that non-quilters often under-estimate.

Edit2: I see the online instructions include a method for making half-square triangles. Be aware that you may want to pre-wash your fabrics (or at least test the colored fabrics to make sure they won't bleed onto the white when the skirt is washed) and starch your fabrics before cutting (especially if pre-washing).

Thank you, that looks like it. Do you think this is too complicated for a novice like me? If you have any recommendations for something better suited to a novice, please feel free to let me know. I don’t want to get in over my head.

thanks for asking this question. welcome to the QB. i feel you can do the piecing if you measure frequently to make sure your blocks are all the right size. if you haven't done binding before, you might want to practice on a scrap sandwich. just hop on the QB for advice any time.

There is a nice graph of this block in the tutorial section of this board. It is a carpenter star or wheel. You can cut the squares to whatever size you want to get the desired size you are looking for.

I made this for my DGS and his bride. It was an easy pattern and they loved it. Good luck.
