    Default A Penrose tiling Quilt

My neighbor recently said he was going to tile his floor with the Penrose pattern. After he described it I realized it would make a beautiful quilt.

I searched Google and found a picture of a quilt but not really a pattern to buy or use.

Has any one on the board her done a Penrose pattern quilt. It is based on a pentagon with two different rectangles with corners at 72 degree and 108 degree angles. The second one is 36 degrees and 144 degrees. The sides of the rectangles are equal so they all fit together.

Thanks for any help you can provide. Would love to try it. I may just cut myself some templates and dive in to sewing.

    Ethel

Here is another view of the Penrose Tiling that shows the angles of the two rectangles http://calculus-geometry.hubpages.co...Quilt-Patterns

Looks like it would work well with English Paper Piecing.

Interesting: Phi Proportional - discovered by mathematician Roger Penrose in the 1960s - they are one of the only ways to tile a plane with pentagonal symmetry

Interesting but way to complex for me to make.

    Other resources for Penrose Tilings.

From The Geometry Junkyard, a list of Penrose Tiling websites.
