How many of you quilters know how to change the tension on your presser foot?
I have been having trouble with puckering & uneven feeding of fabric when quilting or applying bindings even when using my walking foot.

I just learned that there is a dial on almost all machines to adjust the pressure of the presser foot. It makes a difference.

I don't think there is one on my older Bernina. Did you check your service manual??

There are yahoo groups for most of our machines. My group -- Viking Sapphire -- has many hints about adjusting the presser foot pressure, and the walking foot made for the machine indicates in the instructions to reduce it to 3.0. I've found that reducing the foot pressure gives more even stitch length since it reduces the drag. Think it's the drag that makes puckers....

Well, when Sharon Schamber talks I listen. LOL She sets the pressure on her foot to be the most it can be for machine quilting and piecing.

My vintage 306 W has a presser foot adjustment , and if you did not know where to find it would not be easy to detect. it at the top on the machine a threaded metal screw type thing. My newer Viking has a dial with numbers which I like a lot since you can adjust and get back to previous settings. I use my presser foot adjustment quite often.
