    Default Question about Doll Quilts

I have tons of scraps and would like to make some doll quilts. Is there the standard size for doll quilts? What about the size for piecing?
    Thanks.

I think it would depend on the size of the doll. A barbie dolls quilt would be much smaller than an American Girl doll. As for the size of the pieces, the sky's the limit on that one. You can use large blocks or use tiny pieces that would mimic a scaled down large quilt.

IMHO making doll quilts is the same as large quilts ......... no rules!

So my best suggestion is for you to do it the way you want to .... large or small pieces; traditional or modern; etc .... and whatever size you want to make it. After all, dolls come in all sizes!!

Many standard doll houses use the scale of 1 inch = 1 foot. I don't have that skill level or patience, but if you do, you can likely sell some on one of the many doll house forums out there. Doll house people are always looking for great décor items.

If the doll quilt is fairly small, I definitely recommend using a *thin* batting and *fine* thread without too much quilting. The first doll quilt I made I used Warm and Natural and regular sewing thread in a close stipple. It turned out stiff as a board!

I have made small quilts before using 1 1/2 in. squares and over all size about 11x14 in. I wouldn't want to make anything small enough to be used in a doll house but more like a size to put in a doll stroller.

I think doll strollers are about half the size of a regular baby stroller so maybe half the size of a baby quilt/blanket? Carriages would be a bit bigger I think but its been a looooooong time since I've seen one.
