    Default Question about Hoffman fabric

I have a question about Hoffman Fabric...I have one that is marked "Lahaina Batiks, by Hoffman.. This appears to be a print that looks like batik and not actually batik fabric...does anyone know if this is true?

Does it have a white selvage? Real batiks have a selvage weave on the edge, of course, but the color goes to the edge. I have a few prints that look enough like a 'real' batiks that I don't care.

No the savage is printed on all the way to the edge...but it has the little pin holes like a printed fabric. The back doesn't look like the front...the way real batik does. (Maybe I am answering my own question) lol

Why not email Hoffman? They should be able to tell you. Just a thought...

It doesn't look like the rest of the Hoffman batiks to me. Funny that they refer to them that way. Fossil Ferns by Benartex are sometimes referred to as batiks also, but the fabric is more like regular quilting cotton vs. the tighter weave of the batik fabric. I wouldn't hesitate to mix either with batiks though. I have mixed Fossil Ferns in and had great results.

I have mixed regular cottons with batiks before. Mine did fine. Be sure to wash with color catchers though.

I love fossil ferns, and prefer them to batiks.

There is no reason you can not mix regular cotton with batiks.

From the pic it doesn't look like a batik.

I love non-batik "batiks". Much easier to needle
