frustrating some days. I sewed my strip sets together, then decided I had sewed them wrong, so I ripped them and resewed them. Then I cut my rail fence blocks and put them on the board. I sewed my 9P blocks and put them on the board, and , my rail fence strips had been right the first time and now they are wrong. So now is this a design opportunity or time to rip again.

The only reason it might possibly be a design opp is because I am doing this two color scrappy rather than using only two fabrics. So I could put the colors together as they are different fabrics... but... ahhhh, I'm thinking rabbit stitching again.

The green squares chain will show up better if I change it, I think. Sighhhh.. here is a photo of WIP:

Linda: I am not a good one to get an opinion from, since I can be remarkably blind to patterns, specially secondary ones. When I put together a quilt I ask innocent bystanders for anything that looks wrong. I can tell you I really like the colors, looks like a design op to me.

I am always hesitant to express an opinion, since we all like different things and do things differently. But here I go and keep in mind, just suggestions. I love the colors here and I think the two blocks work very well together and present a good design opportunity. If I were doing it I wouldn't put the blocks on point and I would not have the centers of the 9 patch line up with the centers of the rail fence. In other words, I'd have the rail fence long log against the center of the 9 patch. (vertically or horizontally). Hope this makes sense. In any case, I certainly would not rip it out--you've got a good thing going here. Most of all have fun!

I agree... i see a secondary pattern of lighter "stripes/lines" developing in this which could look very nice. Of course you have to be happy with it, so only you can decide......i have "unsewn" more things than i care to think about - and have been avoiding some "unquilting" on a project for the past week.

I wouldn't do unsewing...the very least I'd do is make two quilts--one 9P and one rail fence, if you can't figure something out.

Youi could always sash them and then it wouldn't matter, though you'd lose any secondary design you were hoping for.

It's scrappy! Looks like it will be a fun quilt! I wouldn't unsew; just go with it!

Just continue on...really, no one but you will know that the strips are in the " wrong place". Looks fine...have fun not pain!

I'm also a fibro sufferer and I totally agree with you, it can be really frustrating at times! I like your layout and I think you should just go with it :-)
