Default Quilting Over a large applique

Has anyone every quilted over appliques? I have a long arm and was wondering if this is possible. My appliqué is a large Giraffe that I cut with my cricket. The size needs something to hold it together. Thanks,
    Sandy

I don't usually randomly quilt over large appliqué but find features I can outline quilt. Maybe you can quilt around each of the giraffe spots?

I've had my quilts fmq and they go over the applique, hold it al in nicely.
I did a chicken quilt, and the person quilted chicken wire overall, came out great.

yes, I quilt over appliques- it depends on the actual appliques, and the quilt- what quilting is done- sometimes I highlight areas, detail quilting, sometimes I do (echo) quilting on the inside of the appliques, sometimes an all over quilting design is what works for the quilt-

I do, I find the larger the applique, the more it needs to be "grounded" into the quilt back. I do like Tartan, I find a way to quilt it down without making it blend into the background.

If you are doing an overall pattern you can quilt over them. If you are doing background quilting. Could you create some lines that would complement the look of the giraffe?

Yes, it is possible to quilt over applique. I really like adding quilting on top of the applique to bring the applique to life.
