I found out the walking foot I bought from the Brother dealer at the same time I bought my machine is wrong. Today at my quilting group I tried a friends Janome walking foot. Mine has the fork thingy (real tachie here) that the set screw for the needle sets into, hers has a bar that sets on top of the set screw. I used hers all morning, not one tiny stitch. . Never did hear back from the Brother support group.

My brother walking foot (for a Brother NS30) has a fork thingy too and it has always worked fine. Can you take it back to the dealer and ask them??

I got a walking foot at the same time I bought my Singer many years ago. After several tries I stopped using it because it just wasn't doing the job. It wasn't until about a year ago I looked more closely at it and realized it was the wrong foot! I bought the correct foot and it works perfectly. I'm being very generous here -- apparently the salesperson didn't know any better!

Can't take it back as I've had it for 5 years. I couldn't use it in the beginning thought it was me. I just put it away & didn't use one till recently I thought I'd try again. I'm just glad to know it's not me. :-D . So right now I have that foot pd. $50 & one $25 for my old machine, dare I buy another. Personally I feel I should buy a machine with a built in foot. LOL.

An addendum to my previous post: The Singer salesperson sold me the wrong foot -- the slots in it did not match up to the feed dogs of the machine; there was almost an eighth of an inch difference! Check to be sure the feed dogs fit correctly into the slots of the walking foot.

I bought a new darning foot and these people were very knowledgeable and helpful:

    http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/

if you give them the make/model of your machine, they will probably be able to get you the correct walking foot.

Also, if you find out what machine your 'wrong' walking foot fits, someone here might like to buy it.
