I completely understand! I have back problems & only get 2-3 hrs sleep a night. More of a nap really. Have to keep moving to keep pain manageable. Today I took out dbl stitching on 2 5-1/2" squares & promptly sewed them wrong again! If that weren't bad enough found out the dozen 4-patch blocks I'd made are all too small. I put it all away until tomorrow. :-)

I work until 5:00 so after dinner and spending some time with DH, I usually sew between the hours of 9:00pm and midnight. I'm used to it but still if I try and stretch it....that's when Mr. Stupid comes out.

I really think al of these painfully learned lessons should be put in a book for beginners. But then they might cry and not even try.
I know we could all add to your sorrowful tale.

1/ It wakes the rabbit and she makes a ton of noise

2/ seam allowances mystically change from 1/4" to 5/8" and back again

The following occur after I've decided the machine needs a good cleaning and that's the reason for all my troubles:

3/ It takes me 30 min of sewing with thread that's breaking to realize I have the needle in backwards

4/ It takes two hours of playing with the thread tension, stitch length etc to realize that the reason I have no upper thread tension no matter what I adjust is because I have the thread behind the tension discs instead of between them.

5/ somewhere around one am I forget that the hand wheel needs to spin towards me not away and it takes another 15 min to figure out why the machine's not sewing.

Just thought someone might find this entertaining. That and the thread tension thing is something that makes you want to smack your forehead and go "Duh!" but I'm betting I'm not the only one that's done it.

    Happy sewing!!!!!
I am glad this also happens to someone else. Except mine happens during the day. It is funny now but then....you just wanted to sit and cry... Been there, do that, have several T-shirts! :)

I particularly enjoyed the mystically changing seams! I knew it had to be something like that!!
