Recently I was trying to thread my sewing machine and could not for the life of me get the needled threaded. Cut the thread straight...nope, cut it at an angle....nope....do the previous two steps with a bit of spittle...nope... Add extra lighting...nope...use a magnifying glass on previous steps ....nope. Frustration ....yes!

Then it dawned on me; remove the needle thread it, and put it back into the machine. Worked like a champ first try!

The key is to keep the needle and thread in the same relative position to the machine when you thread and replace the needle.

I have resorted to threading a needle that way, too - when all else failed!

Good tip for hard to thread needles. My 301 threads right to left. Ordinarily, I'm good with that with a white card behind the needle but when I"m tired it gets hard to do. I'm going to remember that.

I have found that a top stitch needle is easier for me to thread. It has a larger eye than my other needles.

I learned this from a Libby Lehman's class. Run the thread down the shaft of the needle on the side of the hole. The thread goes right in the needle hole every time. I use this method more then the threader on my machine.

I just use one of those inexpensive little needle threaders.

WOW! I tried this as soon as I read it as I'm at my machine. I can't stop threading the needle. It works everytime! Oh Boy Oh Boy. Thanks so much for sharing this. It really pays to go to classes, good instructors know their stuff alright.

I love it that my machine has an automatic needle threader. My eyes aren't what they once were, and my hands aren't as steady either.
