I've only had to return fabric once. It was years ago. I seem to recall I was preparing to wash it when I discovered a serious defect. Walmart accepted the return.

I took back five 1/4 yards that were cut short (crooked) to JoAnn's.

I work in a fabric store, and we do not accept returns, unless it's our mistake (cut crooked, or short) or the fabric has a defect. I've never tried to return fabric elsewhere, so I don't know.

Have only returned fabric once to a LQS, was white on white. Got it home getting ready to cut into it, there were black flecks all through the cut. When I took it back, upon checking several of the white on whites she had, they had black flecks through them. I would call that a serious supplier problem.

I bought some flannel for a baby blanket,....... now this was good flannel......after washing and making it up, the fabric had balled badly, couldn't give it as a gift. Took it back to Hancock's, they took it back and returned my money.....

I would probaly only try to take it back if it was defective or cut wrong.

Have taken bolts back to Hancocks. They were backing, extra wide and when I opened the packaging and unrolled the fabric, it was split! Not a whole width as advertised! No questions and I exchanged for another bolt that we opened right there to check! Have never actually returned fabric for any reason other than a defect.
