I just put a new blade in my rotary cutter - Olfa cutter & Olfa blade. It is shredding the fabric every time I cut. I have long strings around the edge of the blade and all over. Needless to say it is throwing off my measurements. I am working on a simple table runner of my own design. I can adjust for now. But I do not want this to happen again.

Any ideas what is wrong?

Is it possible that there are 2 blades on your cutter? I have had that happen to me. That is very aggravating!

I've done it too . . .they oil the blades to prevent rust . . .the oil causes them to stick together. The good news is, once it happens to you, you'll remeber everytime thereafter to check.

I had seen a question like this before and that was my thought also. So now you have an extra blade.

Has anyone discovered a simple way of separating two blades without slicing fingers and cutting fingernails? I had to ask my husband to help me the last time I tried to separate blades.

I push lay the blades down and push on the top blade with a pencil eraser end until it moves off the pile just enough to slide off. Works for me.
