Default Rulers not just for cutting/measurilng

When I applique, I like to stand at my ironing board. So to avoid pinning to the ironing board cover, I place my 15x15 ruler under the fabric. I've tried using my cutting mat but too flimsy. More than one use for expensive quilting tool.

I have a long torso and comparatively short little arms. Yes, the real life example like the alligator on the Geico ads...

I use our queen sized bed as my largest layout space (first I clear off the pillows and put down kraft paper) and then when I am smoothing out backings or tops, I use my 6x24 ruler as a large arm extension to sweep across the surface. Haven't thought of a better item or process yet!

I only use my rulers as intended.

I learned that I scratched my rulers when I used them that way.

I use my rulers for marking my shortbread cookies at Christmas. I use my rulers and a rotary cutter(paper only) for cutting paper and card stock.
