I use an old kitchen table. Often I have to work a section at a time since the quilt is bigger than the table. I've also used the kitchen island, but only that's only a section at a time too. There's no way I could use the floor because of my knees!

I do the same as YC Quilter. You can also pin baste this way. There are lots of videos about basting on You Tube. DH has even got in on it. Yeah you can get 2 people basting the same quilt at the same time. I do it on a 6' folding utility table and have used my kitchen table.
I use Sharon Schamber's two board method of basting a quilt. I haven't had any problems with puckering on the back and I can do it on the dining room table. I put my cutting mat under the quilt so the needle doesn't scratch the table. Works well for baby quilts or large lap quilts which are the biggest ones I make usually.

I tape mine to the floor, but recently I watched a video from Kismet Smith showing how she makes her sandwich using 3 pool noodles. It was posted in a FB group so if you search for her if you belong to FB you should be able to find it. I don't think I can put a FB link in here.

I live in a camper, so no place big enough. Sometimes I use an opened cardboard box on our bed & work there, or if my back is hurting real bad, I use the clip hangers from dept. stores to hang the back, batting and quilt top from. That way gravity helps keep it smooth as I pin. Otherwise, I use the community center to pin large quilts. I understand sometimes JoAnn Fabrics allows people to use one of their classrooms if it's not being used. Good luck!
