    Default Sewing chair advise please!

I just re-did my sewing room and have a spot for my Juki for FMQ. The problem is my chair is not high enough. The table is our old kitchen table and when I sit at it with my office chair the highest it goes up is about 22 inches. It would be fine for regular sewing. My husband got it when he closed his lab and it's one of those really fancy ones, quite costly.

My husband looked at the legs of the table but they really can't be altered.
That chair works fine for sewing on my Bernina. But I heard that you need to be up higher for FMQ so that you don't get neck and shoulder aches.
I have another office chair but it only goes up to about the same.

What do you have? Any ideas are welcome.
    Thanks!

    Susie

you might look at Arrow sewing chairs at Allbrands. hydraulic ones. I got mine on sale. emailed Arrow and they contacted Arrow and Arrow gave me the sale price even though the sale was over.

or check out drafting stools at an office supply place, they usually go higher and have no arms to get into your way. I use one at the long arm.

Would it be possible to make a pedestal for the chair to bring it up a few inches?

If you already have a great chair then buy a new table.

Agree with OnebyOne ... either alter the table or get a different one.

Wondering why your husband said the table legs can't be altered? If they can't be cut at the bottom, they can often be removed from the base and altered at the top. Is this a wood table?

I was thinking that a drafting chair would work. My husband is a draftsman and when he worked on a board (it's all computerized now), he had a couple of really nice stools.

So glad you solved your problem. I don't have a problem with my office chair. Maybe I am taller than you.

I got a chair with my serger. The seat lifts up to put the serger and a few projects inside. This chair is higher than most.
