This is a bit different- I'm referring to a sewing machine light. I bought LED strips on Amazon for my Juki. Easy to install on the machine and the difference in light is amazing!!

I had one of the strip led lights for underneath my machine. It was okay but still didn't show the needle area as much as I wanted I use the Vivilux rechargeable light on my machine. It's fantastic. It's easy to remove and place on another machine, no cords. Charges like a cell phone [h=1]ViviLux Super Bright Flexible Craft Light

Something most folks overlook with LED lighting - color rendering index, or CRI. Most LEDs are 80 CRI or so, which causes colors to be "off". Higher priced LEDs are 90+ CRI - and if they are they will indicate so on the packaging. High CRI is one of the things that make Ott lamps the choice for most crafters.

I found the hig CRI bulbs at Home Depot. I have them in every light fixture they will fit in the house. But with the help of a decorator, she mixed in regular light bulbs to soften the glare in the living areas. The mixed lighting really made a difference in the atmosphere of the rooms. She put in a few pink bulbs in the bathroom in separate fixtures. I love the soft look.

I bought the SlimLine clamp-on table lamp (Amazon) to go directly over my machine and love it. I had the same issue as you, with a single dim dome light in my sewing room. This lamp was a bit pricey, but I use it daily and it has allowed me to sew into the late afternoon and evening hours.

My sewing studio has a large fixture with 4 bulbs in it plus I have floor to ceiling windows on 2 sides of the room there are also 2 skylights to provide more lighting on sunny days. Not so good on rainy days or snowy days. Even with all this I always think I could use more light. I keep all my fabrics in dark cupboards so they are not affected by the light. This is a huge thing to consider.
