    Question Singer 9980 quantum stylist

I am looking to get a new machine and my only "must have" is the scissors button. I found this singer 9980 on amazon for $350 and it has the auto thread cutter button. My only concern is all the negative things I have heard about the new singers. Does anyone have this machine? Pros and con's? I can't spend over $500 on a new machine and I really want that button!

I think the quantum stylist is one of their most popular models and gets good reviews, amazon should have a lot of reviews on it but I know people love their stylists. People say the same thing all the time about cheap brothers and I still love my cheap brothers from walmart.

I just gifted mine to my DIL. It's an excellent machine. Easy to operate, lots of fun stitches, and I never had any problems with it. The harp is not too small, but I needed something that would accommodate a king size quilt, so decided to let it go. I already miss it!

Why do you want the scissors feature so much? Just asking as I did too.. I thought it would be great when machine quilting etc. so I didn't have to reach under the work to cut the threads, BUT my machine cuts the tails at about 1" long... then you still have to do something with them. IF you tack the stitches and trim it's okay on a busy fabric, but on plain fabric it shows. So I take a needle & thread them in....but the 1" length isn't the easiest to work with. Just an FYI and not really an answer to your question

I agree with thimblebug6000. I just am so use to using enders that it is only a problem when I have to change thread.
