    I have a singer machine, the number on the book is 66-18 it is in new condition, also just bought a singer Fashion Mate, does anyone know anything about these machines.

    you can google singer 66-18 and there is quite a bit of information...
    Mainly that they were manufactured in 1949 and are work horses.. very durable....

    I'd google the Fashion Mate too and see what you find out...

    The 66 is a wonderful workhorse of a machine. The Fashion Mate is not as collectible, but some people like them.

    There are vintage Singer sewing machine groups on Yahoo that you can join for lots of information. You can also Google for lots more info. Here's one website:

    I have the fashion mate, a newer Singer I bought at a hotel sale, a 1954 antique and a 301a.
    Did you know you can get the manual at SingerCo.com? for free? (don't be fooled, people in Canada have to pay the $15)
    I love the fastion mate, but the 301 is a strong machine.

    Go on the Vintage Sewing Machine Shop thread and read, read, read. There are people on there who are experts on the vintage machines, and you will learn just about everything you want to know about them.
