Default Singer XL 5000 Smart Media Card

I have recently acquired a Singer LX 5000. I was trying to use Embird to write a design to the smart card with my PC and when I put it in the sewing machine it would not read the card. Just wondering if anyone has had the same problem. The card is several years old and has only one design on it. I was trying to hook of the Professional Sew Ware that came with the machine, but I have Vista and it needs a special plug for the USB adapter for my computer. But I thought I solved the problem when I wrote the design to the card. I can read it from my computer, just not the card in the sewing machine. I would appreciate any help. thanks

card or program may not be in the correct format for the sewing machine to read.

Thank you for the help. I decided to re-initialize the Smart Card and that fixed the card. Can't use my PC to save designs to the card. It was helpful to see which machines use which format, thanks for that. I hooked up an old computer XL and was able to load designs from disk to machine, than to Smart Card via Sew Ware. I ordered a smart card reader this morning that was for reading and writing the Smart Card for Singer. Singer Texas, I think that is the name. Thanks again for your help.
