Default So any of you do thread painting?

I watched a tutorial by Leah Day where she was thread painting. It was amazing how she was just using stitching to "paint" a picture on her quilt. I bet that puppy was stiff as a board and could hang itself on the wall. But, it was gorgeous!!! Anyone here tried that? What are your thoughts on thread painting?

That's a technique I'd like to learn and will hopefully take a class next year in it. I wonder if craftsy offers one?

I took a workshop how to thread paint. It was fun to do one time for me. It takes a lot of different color thread. Like you said the finished product was like cardboard. I made a small wallhanging of a landscape design.

Yep, stiff as a board but pretty. I prefer using the water solvable stabilizer and densely stitch a design and then use it as an appliqué on a wallhanging.

Sort of new to quilting and haven't begun FMQ yet, but did give thread painting a try. It's fun and rewarding to see your work come to life.
