Quick tip: I keep a bar of Octagon soap nearby when I hand quilt and use it instead of beeswax (expensive) to make my threads glide smooth - no snagging.

Ok, I guess I am out of the loop here. What is "octagon" soap? I do use beeswax.

Be careful using soap...it can rot the threads!!

I have a beewax with dispenser that my mom had back in the 60's...haven't used it up yet! :)

I wonder if a bar of ivory would work? or another type of gentle soap?

I never heard of using soap before. I went to a quilt show with a ton of vendors, and they had bees wax for sale at one of the booths for $1 per 3oz bar, so I stocked up and bought the rest of what she had. That was 4 years ago, still have some left LOL
