    I use a no 2 mechanical pencil. It has always washed out for me.

    crayola markers - has anyone used those - they have small fine tip ones or crayola fabric markers http://www.beverlys.com/crayola-fabric-markers/

    The only good way is to have a long arm with pantograms.
    I wonder if you spray the stencil with basting spray, to hold it down while you mark it, would it work. I will have to try it.
