    Default Stitch Length

Although my Janome is set at 2.2, I prefer 2.5 for piecing. What length do you use?

I use 2.0. I don't backstitch at the beginning of my sewing and I found I had seams coming undone on my blocks when I was using 2.2. Dropping back to 2.0 stopped that almost completely unless I handle a block a lot of times. For paper piecing I use 1.6.

I use 1.8 for piecing and 1.7 for paper piecing. Anything smaller is too hard to rip out when needed.

I use 2 or 1.9... Piecing quilts requires a bit tighter stitching than regular garment sewing.

I use 2.4 or 2.5 on my Janome and that works for me as a good stitch length

My Janome sets itself to 1.8 when I click the needle over to the right ready for 1/4 inch seam so I have stayed with that and it works for me. I also don’t backstitch at the start for piecing

I use 2.5 for general piecing. 1.5 when paper piecing. When top stitching I use a 3.0
