My machine is skipping stitches. Cleaned her, changed the thread still skipping and started to shread the thread. I changed to a new needle in case it was bent and seems to be fine now. I am taking a break because if it isn't fixed, I don't want to know right now!

sounds like the needle was dull. YOu should change your needle after 8 or so hours of sewing, not just when it breaks :-)

Make sure the needle is in the correct way too. I made that mistake when I first started sewing.

I had that same problem last week. Spent 1 1/2 hours trying to figure it out. Did everything I could think of. Finally got fed up with it and quit for the night. Shut it down and went back the next day and everything was right. Maybe it just needed a rest, I don't know but I'm not complaining.

I have had this problem too. I was trying to sewing through to many layers of fabric. ( I was making a purse out of my uniform top). I was using extremely cheap thread too. I changed the thread type and needle, now its good to go.

My featherweight starts doing that when the lint builds up on the feed dogs under the sole plate. Corrected when I clean it up.

most of the time if your stitch quality is no longer as it should be (skipped or uneven stitches) it is time to change your needle---that is the sign of a dull needle
