I'm doing it along with 4 others at my house. We also do the New YEar's Mystery Quilt. Good way to start the New Year! It's fun to be with other quilters. If you don't like the top you can always donate to a good cause!

I agree that I prefer the third one. But, depending on the pattern, number one could work. There is something about the orange in number two that just seems to not work well.

I like the third one best. I agree, I don't care for the one with orange in it, although I do like orange, just have a hard time matching with other colors.

It looks like fun but I will just watch for now. I am on my way out to help with my grandson's back surgery recovery for a month. Since my daughter-in-law doesn't sew - no sewing machine and I will probably have enough to do anyway. By the time I get back, I will be looking for something to do.

Belfrybat, do you follow on Facebook? I try to post our progresss there occasionally. I tend to play hostess to my friends so don't get much done! I do have my cutting done so far- how bout you?

No, I'm not on Facebook, but am glad someone besides me on this board will be doing the mystery. I have the cutting all done but was surprised by how much fabric is left over. I gather we will be doing quite a bit more cutting on Sunday.

Janet just gives us a little to cut, there will probably be more cutting first thing on Sunday. I'm not sure when she is starting. New Year's Day often starts around 8AM EST. It is fun because people across the globe participate. I'll try to post on here- I'm just not good doing that sort of thing on the computer.

Well, I've sewn just about all afternoon and am no where near being done. Still have 24 flying geese to trim up and 30 nine patches to make. But it's coming along. Now that I see how the colours play, I wish I'd switched the lavender and green.

The pic below shows the center medallion and the top border just laid in. The pattern calls for a thick dark border around the medallion, but I'd like to put more green in it, so will probably assemble it like the second picture. I'm leaning towards putting an outer border -- probably the double green/ black like the one around the medallion. But I'll decide that tomorrow (or whenever)
