    There is someone here on the quilting board that is selling ones she cut from colorplast. They are way less expensive than the polar notions. I saw them once but don't know where at the moment. You might find them in a search.

    I do the same thing and have my LQS save me that days empty bolts when I need more. For smaller pieces of fabrics I saw the cardboard bolts in half (or 1/3rds) and tape the ends.

    I love your personal fabric shop! I too get my empty bolts from the LQS and cut them in half for my stash. Helps the land fill and my room looks so much better for it.

    I get them from my LQS, JoAnns, Hobby Lobby and even Hancocks. I don't think anyone has ever turned me down. Occasionally JoAnn's will be "holding" some for someone who asked for quite a few.
