If you are a confident free motion quilter (which I am not) I would use a lime green thread to quilt it. If not, probably the navy would work best.

Since I use mainly neutral or light gray thread unless the project is black, I use whatever I have in the bobbin.

Oh sure, that is how I use up bobbin thread too in my piecing. Nobody is going to see it once the sandwich is complete.

I am of 2 different minds when I am piecing a quilt top. If it is scrappy, I use what ever bobbin color I have - any weight or manufacturer, I fill up bobbins with the spools that are almost empty. And use up any leftovers on the top thread. I do this when I am in my "frugal, reuse, recycle, repurpose" mindset.

Then when I am in my "I deserve the best, money is inconsequential" mindset I mostly use white, cream, shades of grey for the top in aurifil or essential 50 weight.

Wow, didn't know others used whatever was handy except me. i always fell guilty when i did this, but it's nice to know everyone else just uses up thread, except for black. i think black needs black thread. mostly.

When I make scrap quilts, that's when I use up lots of bobbins. I use one in the bobbin case and the other for the top thread.

Other quilters have said it doesn't matter what color you piece with. I might use lighter thread for lighter colored material but darker for darker material When the fabric color varies - what others said, whatever is in the machine.

I think they are the only colors you need for piecing. I used to match and decided I'd rather spend my money on the fabric than the thread.

In general I just use tans and what I have. However, the current quilt I'm making a thread is showing just a little at the y joints so I tried to match a little better...

I agree - why waste the thread?
