    Default Throw blanket size

Hi. I'm finishing up a quilt for my grandson who is 12. Right now the finished size, if I don't add border to increase size, will be approximately 59"x66". It looks small when it's laid out, but I think it's s good lap quilt size. What size do you all tend to make your throws?
    Thanks

A lot depends on the pattern and size of blocks. That sounds like a good size lap to me.

When I make a throw blanket I like to have enough to tuck in all around when seated. That means to me that it comes up the chin with a bit left over and can tuck under my toes to keep them warm with a bit left over and plenty around the sides to tuck in and snuggle into.

So I guess that it depends on the height of the person who is receiving the item as to how big it is.

I think that sounds good. The one I use is 55" x 65".. but now my son wants to be covered nose to his toes when he is laying on the couch and needs one much bigger. But he is 6'4"

    I like a 45 x60 or a 60 x 72, great for fleece backing.

Hi. I think 59x66 is really a good size quilt. Lab size is good for a boy who is 12 yrs old. However, I make mine around that size you make yours. I've never measured mine, just guessed. Next one I make I will measure. Thanks for asking.

I do charity quilts for Foster kids and the minimum size requirement is 50" wide and 60" in length. The final size really depends on the size of the blocks.

I like to make mine at least 72 inches long. Long enough to tuck your feet under but some patterns don't lend themselves to adding length. As far as width anywhere from 48 to 54, wider if the pattern dictates it.

Most of my lap sided quilts turn out to be around 60 x 70 and I'm 5'5" and have enough to pull all the way up to my neck and still cover my feet as I lay in my recliner at night.
