My dd wants me to make her a tree skirt out of ticking fabric. I am afraid it will be too heavy and no lay right. I would like some inputs if any one has ever used ticking fabric and their thoughts.

I haven't used ticking but I have made one with heavy denim... no problems..

Those are about the same weight, so should be fine.
If you're worried about it, could you find some cotton that looks like ticking fabric and use that?

As long as you have all the same weight fabric, you should have no problems. It will not drape in soft folds but have higher bumps but in a tree skirt it will be OK.

Tell her your concerns and then if it doesn't lay the way she wants, tell her there is nothing you can do it was her choice.

I love ticking and think it would be great! my studio curtains are ticking and I love them!
