So I have made my Turning Twenty center. I used 20 fabrics with assorted dog, chocolate, coffee, and southwest patterns (it's for my mom... guess what her likes are :D ). So I'm onto the border, but am perpluzzled. The quilt is 64.5" x 80.5" (and actually measures what it's supposed to! That's always exciting). I have 20 strips that are about 18" x 4" (a tad more on some). Short of doing 2" strips (which seems small), I can't figure out how to border the quilt with the strips without needing extra fabric. Help please!

Oh. Wow. Disregard. Higher level math. I was doing the math with 10" strips, not 18". So I'm good. Wow... what's scary is that I'm a high school math teacher :D :D Note to self - don't cut any fabric this evening. I don't trust myself!!

I had to use extra fabric. I used something from my stash to match. Show a picture of the quilt.

Yup, will definitely post a picture when I get the border on. It's my reward for finishing a top completely

Could you use the 4" strips to do a pieced border? Would a solid border look better with all the prints in the main part? If you have any pieces to place where the border would go to see what looks best, you could visualize it that way. Pictures are helpful here, too.

    I like your word perpluzzled!

I was trying to use the 4" strips to piece the border (like what'd done here: http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-71333-1.htm ), but my math was off since apparently my brain is asleep. I have more than enough fabric when I use 18" instead of 10"

Confuzzled is another of my favorite made up words
