When I decided to slow my fabric buying I posted a BIG note on the wall of my sewing room that said "Last fabric purchase 8/12/11" I looked at it every day and gave myself a little pat on the back for each day that passed and I didn't buy any fabric. And yes, I HAVE purchased some since that date - but I have cut down dramatically.

This sure sounds good to me. Wonder if the local quilt shops would suffer if a whole bunch of quilters jump on this train...

i think they'd only notice it if a lot of the big spenders stopped or a large number of customers for one particular store. i spread my purchases over 4 stores primarily. doubt any of them would notice on their bottom line, but some of the clerks/associates will miss me because we always chat. i will miss them, too. i wonder if it's like an alcoholic walking into a bar? the way i keep spending it's as life affecting as alcohol abuse. i joke around alot, but about this i'm serious! my spending on fabric is waaaaay out of control!! but i am ready to reform.

I have been busy all day sorting scraps in to strip sizes so i can countinue making scrappy tops. I know I will never use it all. But I am going to try real hard. I have pleanty of UFOs to work on and scraps to use up.

    Here we go again!

Just to show that I do have over thirty quilts to finish I will post a before and after pic of my work. It will give me insentive to finish.

Thanks for doing this for everyone. I know I need all the help I can get.
    peace

Yes, I will join you. I haven't finished anything in ages and I have plenty of 'kits' to work on. I do need that fabric for the New year's eve mystery, so glad to join you with 2013.

My buying has nearly stopped. I have 1 last online purchase to make as I need some lights to add to my stash before the moratorium begins. I am being seriously choosey about it. I've been working on the list for about 2 weeks so I am only getting what I NEED, no impulse buying!! The hard part for me will come when we move back to the States in the summer. Then I will see all of that pretty fabric that I didn't see over here-boo! But I also made a list of quilts is like to make next year and I have been building kits from my own stash to make them. I think I will do great with this if I can just stick with my list and complete the UFOs I have sitting around!
