I have a Janome 6500; used and came with a walking foot and the bar for parallel quilting. The bar does not hold tight and slips when I turn the quilt, so my rows of quilting do not stay an even distance apart. I am thinking that bar is not the right one for my machine. Does any one else have any issues using these?

No, it just slips into a slot on the back of the plastic walking foot.

I never trusted the bar with the walking foot, so just use painter's masking tape to mark straight lines.

I also use painter's tape. It can be used more than once.

I have the Janome 6600 and had the same problem with that bar. I gave
up and use painter's tape now.

Same thing with my 6600....I quit using it and went to washable markers....much easier.

Try wrapping a small rubber band on the bar on each side of the walking foot and snugging them up against the walking foot when the bar is in position. May give enough friction to keep the bar in place. Don't know it will work but worth a try.

I have a Janome MC4800 and mine does the same. most frustrating.

This is exactally what I do. I use the very small hair bands. I think they are silicone. They snug tight and work well. Two of my walking feet have broken holders and the bands do the job. Apparently it is a flaw in the Janome walking feet.
