i know how excited many of you are that your walmart is bringing bolts of fabric back. i'm so jealous. our walmart took most of the crafts out altogether and only have a small section of one aisle with sewing/quilting notions. today, the crafts aisles were almost completely empty. i ran into the dept. manager who said that they are bringing in precuts and some patterns only :( i'm keeping my fingers crossed that the notions section will be larger than before. i'm not sure how they determine the desire for fabric. there is only one LQS around and that is in an entirely different shopping area about 4 miles away. there is a discount fabric store even farther away than that, but no other shopping around it. the closest joann's is a 1/2 hour away.

It never hurts to write them a letter, I know some here have mentioned doing so and they ended up getting thier dept back.

It's up to the manager to make space for a big fabric dept. and order the fabric and notions. Most manager think the fabric dept takes up too much space and cuts down on profits that other items will bring and wastes employees time so they only order the pre cuts and say yes we have fabric. Keep hounding the manager, get a petition up to have a full fabric dept in that store. The manager does not want any complaints about him going higher. His job depends on it.

I am glad that some of the Wal-marts are getting back their fabric, but ever since they stopped carrying it, I have been using my local fabric shops and have really come to like them. Their fabric runs about the same as Wal-mart and they are a lot more friendly. Though I may still buy from Wal-mart, I plan on trying to keep buying from the ones that has stuck it out.

Our WM has some very nice fabric; the buyer does a great job. However, we're also getting a new JoAnn's plus we have two quilt stores and Hobby Lobby, and I wonder if WM will discontinue their stock. Our town's population is only 50,000 so we do very well in the fabric department :-)
