Default What are your favorite quilt sizes?

    I was wondering...
I've made two quilts so far, both are approximately 50 by 65 inch. One for my sofa, one for my mother. I also made some pillows.
The next project in the making is a king size quilt - a throw for our bed.

What quilt sizes do you prefer and why? What uses do they have in the end? I am also thinking about making a wall hanging (not sure about the size yet).

I see so many -pretty small- quilt patterns but I am not sure what to use them for when they are done *ggg*

I've done mostly queen sized for myself and family members, but really like doing lap sized of 48" x 60".

Although I think I'm in the minority, I like square quilts. Usually around 60X60. nice size if you just want to cover your lap & legs, but if you turn it on the diagonal, you can cover yourself on the couch. I should mention that we have no really tall people in our family. Several people also use them on the bed as accent pieces, either straight or laying them on the diagonal.

Most of my quilts are queen size, my family like to use them on their beds. I like to make wall hangings too, for the different Holidays and seasons.

I like to make lap size, usually 50+= x 70+=. I use them on the couch, chairs, taking a nap on my bed so I don't disturb the make bed, one or two in the car so I don't fight with my husband about the thermostat.

This is the exact range I shoot for. I use fleece for backing, which comes 60" wide on the bolt, so two yards do the job.

98% of the quilts I make are queen sized and live on beds. I make other sizes by request in the size requested ( mostly twins or baby quilts, once in a while a king.) I haven't made wall hangings, although I've seen a few cool ones. Generally if I have a pattern that was designed as a wall hanging I figure out a way to turn it into a queen

Except for some wall hangings, nearly all of mine are lap quilts. They vary slightly in size, pretty much between 40-60 range for the short side and 60 to 70 for the long.

Mine always end up bigger than what I need, but I will use them on my bed.

My favorite size is a full/queen size. That said, I am making some smaller quilts including wall quilts at the request of family. Some family members prefer quilts over afghans, and I'm fine with that. Another family member discovered that her hallways are much quieter since she 'borrowed' some wall hangings to hang in the hallway, so has made more requests for those. That's great because you can be creative and get a project actually quilted (since basting isn't a problem with a wall quilt).
