Default wide parchment fabric at Joanns

When I was in Joanns this week I saw 108 in wide fabric. It is 100% cotton and is called parchment. I have never heard of it, so am looking for some info on it. Is it a good fabric? Good for backing? How does it compare to muslin?
    Thanks for any info.

Are you sure parchment is not the color?

Yes, I think it's the color:

There were other colors there also that said parchment. It didn't have a name on the ends.

I think it's the stle of the design. like blue or yellow or pink. I've seen it in the wide fab section. I'd wash b4 using it. if the price is right grab it. they're having mega big sales this weekend.

I always touch and feel the texture of the fabric in question. Well made fabric you can not see your fingers clearly thru the fabric but cheaper fabrics you can.

Thanks for all the replys. I think I must have been confused over the name vs color. I will compare the feel vs muslin. They had other solid colors which would be a nice change.
