Woodcarver Star by Judy Niemeyer HELP!
Hi Everyone,
I am making the "Woodcarvers Star" quilt by Judy Niemeyer and I am having a time getting the center to match up. Nothing I have tried works. I love this quilt but it is a pain. I need help. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the QB from SE Michigan! I too love Judy Niemeyer quilts. I have 2 sitting here to work on. What I have discovered in finding help on something like this is to contact and Quilworx Planner and they can usually help you out. On line at the Quiltworx site there should be a list of people in your area that can be very helpful. That is what I have done so far. The virus has slowed down everything. Nancy Kloster is one Quiltworx and Katheryn Eifert Groves. Again welcome to the QB

Have you tried steam to get the seams to relax, then pin-and-glue-dots to baste?
This is the reason why a lot of her patterns are unavailable unless you're signed up for a class. They can be very challenging and a lot of people need help. I second juliasb's suggestion to find someone through Quiltworx (Judy's pattern company) who might be able to help you.

I'm working on a JN quilt myself right now and having a similar issue. I've sewn the center units together and have gotten a terrible lump. I'm in the process of ripping them all apart. My plan going forward is to join 2 units; join next 2 units, etc. until I have 4 units of 2 each. Then will join 2 of the 4 unit sections. This way I can sew a seam straight across the center. Hoping this will resolve my issue. One of the biggest issues I see is that there are bias edges everywhere in the quilt. I may have to re-sew these and then all future units with my walking foot, which I normally do not use for regular sewing.

But definitely try the starch and open pressing and see if that improves your results. Certainly did for me.
