I have no experience with civil war prints other than viewing one quilt made with them at my fabric store. But, I think a solid fabric that isn't bright would work.

They should be rolling in now. I mailed them Wed 1/12, and Thur 1/13. How do you like the flowers?
I've noticed that - so far- haven't seen many florals. Am I among few that of flower lovers?
If you want any suggestion, just take any of the colors and accentuate it in the block as it speaks to you.

Good evening buddies, I received f8s today from nursebonnie, roseysue, and lillie.
I mailed F8s today to moonrise, jlin52, qbee, suzi's, tealfalcon, tink74, tolepainter54, wendsy, shaysmema (so happy to hear your DH is home and doing a little better), sewwhat85, janecat, kristen0112, mariem, montanablu, anntherian, brenda5, karen, gigi07, balladawn, chiggerholler, cyndih, roseysue, okdarla, mbogenpohl, kathyn.
For those of you in both of the swaps my intentions were to send you one of each of my two fabrics (I'm using the same two for both swaps) but my DD and DGD decided they needed to help me and they already had labels on envelopes and had fabric in them and sealed from both lists so I have no idea who got what so you may get the same fabric twice. I hope this is okay, I am going to make two quilts from these two swaps so you can even make the same block twice if you want to.

Something very simple, I think! How about 3 strips sewn together. Strip # 1 (medium to dark solid or print) cut 2" x 4 1/2"
Strip # 2 light color cut 21/2" x 4 1/2"
Strip # 3 (medium to dark solid or print) cut 2" x 4 1/2"
I've never done a tute before. Do you need one for this...very simple
3 strips or bars sewn together.

Sew all three together in that order , write your info with permanent fabric pen (pigma pens work well)
Press and you're done!
