Oh good, Woody is joining in this one. Look forward to this new swap.

Question for you gals, do you know of a good setting block that will help make my swap blocks fit together. The swap blocks were from the Boom 5 swap. They are lovely blocks, used one main color, but they do not work well together. They just yell at one another. I want them to play nice so thought maybe if I put in a block the same inbetween all of them, they would work well. I know I can put a solid in, but wanted it to have more movement than that. It is for my BIL.

QuilterMomma: I know what you mean about nice blocks, but they don't work well together! I'm thinking about setting your blocks on point and then the setting triangles could be a color that would draw the blocks together. You could also add a sashing strip between the blocks that were set on point. It's hard to make blocks look good touching each other when their points don't line up because of the different lines in each block! And to find a block that will unify all the ones you have can be tough for the same reason-they don't compliment each other because they have various sizes of sections which make it hard for them to match up well. I'm probably not making sense, but I'm in a boom swap, too, and the blocks are truly lovely and well made, but they don't blend like they would if one person had selected all the fabrics! So I need to figure out the same thing-good luck!

jillnjo: great suggestions for QMomma. My thought too was on point QM, but what about a Quarter square triangle that had 2 neutral colors that blend well with your blocks ( ie cream and brown or white and blue).

And of course add them to your contact list. I've gained the friendship of many quilters all over, just through this swap. Some no longer participate--life gets in the way etc, but the friendships remain. Welcome all.
Thanks for the tips oksewglad! Looking forward to January.[TABLE]

Oh, I think I have it then. Laura Heine developed this border piece that you use on your blocks then you add a 1/4 triange to the end and then they make a secondary pattern in the center like an hour glass block. I have done this before so I just may work with that. I have some colors that I purchased at BUggy Barn that will look nice with the blocks. I think I will do that, put on point, add the border to block with the triangle. Thanks for the suggestion. That is what I needed to stir the mind and creativity. I have to get my boom 6 blocks done and out. Better get to work on that as well while keeping this in mind. My finger has healed enough to be able to cut fabric again. What a relief.

Ooooh that would be fun!!! Jacquilt is another Canberra here on the quiltingboard and I haven't met her yet either, maybe we can all catch up. Let me know when the date gets closer.

I haven't decided if I am going to do a Canberra quilt or just an Australian one, wait and see who my partner is
