A place for a tea kettle, small frig for snacks (plus 1/2 & 1/2 for tea, if it was me!), some cups, small plates, silverware, a place for snacks when friends come over to quilt with you. How wonderful!

For space beside the sink, a fold down shelf that fits over toilet as needed. or supports for a shelf that can be set up temporarily.

Love your layout. What about a little kitchenette with sink so you don't have to leave your area? I have a bay window area in my basement and it was the perfect place to add a double sink right over the drain and didn't take up any room. Added my old microwave on a cart to the side. Once I'm down in my "Play Room" I rarely leave it till its dinner time.
