the show was in the 69th street armory in new york city. it was a free show, paid for by the benefactor / collector of all of the quilts. it was put on by the american folk art museum which is celebrating the year of the quilt this year. it was breathtaking.

if the details can be arranged it's hoped that the show can go on the road some time in the future. that means finding a venure, arranging security, hanging the displays, wrapping for shipping, insurance, etc. it was free in nyc because the collector was from nyc and wanted to give something to the city. i don't know if it would be free elsewhere,

yes, the owner/benefactor is joanna rose, a resident of new york city. the show was her birthday present to herself and new york. she started the collection after her daughter was born. i don't know when that was, but the lady is 80 years old.

the collection continues. she was actually doing business during the course of the show. LOL!

EDIT: the museum is in great financial difficulty. who knows how that will work itself out. there's really no other place like it.

The more you are telling me about this exhibit, the more enthralled I am becoming!

What a totally wonderful lady - to "gift" everyone with the ability to view her marvelous collection!

I wish I could have seen it in person....
