    Default 4 Handmade Quilts

    Hello All,

My name is Karen. I live in Montana. My mother recently passed away and I have been sorting thru her keepsakes. I found these 4 quilts and am wondering if they might be worth selling. I believe my grandmother may have made two of them. I’ve attached pictures and sizes. They are in excellent condition - non-smoking home, no tears or stains. If I sell them, what amount should I ask for each one?

    Thank you!
    Karen

    1 - 108”x 108” - round circles
    2 - 80”x 84” - blue and pink
    3 - 78”x 85” - snake look
    4 - 84”x 96” - flower

Often the local quilt guild will have access to an appraiser to help identify the era and worth of your quilts. I think that would be the place to start.

I bought one similar to the 4th one at a flea market but it was only a top. I paid $25.

These are beautiful. Quilts are hard to sell unless you practically give them away. Have you considered gifting them to other family members who would appreciate them?

The first one is called Cathedral Window, and in my humble may be the most valueable one of the four. Gosh, it's gorgous!

Thank you for the name of the pattern, Lindaschipper.

I've never seen anything like it. A true labour of love along with talent/know-how.

    Default Old Quilts

There is a company, called Quilt Folk. They publish a magazine. They also have, what they call a Quilt Foundry where they sell quilts like these. It’s on the Quilt Folks website. Maybe they can help?

Given the age of the thread, I expect the poster has already found some solution.

I am always bugged by these sorts of queries, where someone wants information to make money and has no interest in the quilt or quilting. Everyone here is so kind and helpful, they usually get it.

    JMO,
