    Default Block Pillows

Remember when I made the Labyrinth quilt and I tested a block to see if I would like the combination?

    http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...t223838-6.html

I had that extra block left and three blocks from the Pineapple Diamond.

    http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...210260-18.html

I had kept them to the side and was thinking pillows but didn't get it just yet as the diamond blocks were pointed and the Labyrinth block too large.

Well yesterday, I got the idea. I took the triangle points off the diamonds and added strips of fabric to the sides of the block to square it up. I made the block 20 inches square. I then put batting and backing to the block and quilted it, then added the back. I gave the pillow a fold over edge so it can be removed and washed.

I did two pillows this way and had six pointed triangles ends left and one more pineapple block. I sewed two triangles to each side of the block, then sewed the remaining two triangle at the widest part, then cut that in half lengthwise and added one into the dip on each side of the of the block, then added more strips to make it 20 ins square. Now I have four pillows to go on the brown couch.

The close up of the third pillow, you can see where I set in that triangle that I cut in half. I am so happy when I can use all my left overs. I already had the pillow forms in my closet since last year and since the rude puppies have torn up the old pillows, it was time for new ones.

Beautiful pillows and a great way to use up the practice pieces. I love the colors too.

Beautiful pillows! I've done some with upholstery fabric pieces. Just need to get them stuffed.

Here's a tip for stuffing pillows. I wash all my pillows at least twice a year with clorax and detergent. When I buy new pillows, I just wash the old ones again and cut the size I want for the size pillow I am making. The poly pillows tend to get less fluffy and sort of become solid after a time and are perfect for those throw pillows. I always like to buy new pillows anyway.

Your quilts (the ones you posted before) are absolutely stunning! and the pillows are a wonderful bonus. How creative you are! I have had several rude puppies in my life and it does seem that they really like throw pillows!
